Chandrakant Kamble/Navarashtra : Sassoon Hospital has brought new hope in the life of a young girl, Nilima (name changed), aged 14 years. Nilima fell ill after suddenly developing fever. After receiving treatment from the village doctor, the fever subsided, but after that a major change in her behavior was observed. She started talking less, stopped playing, lost communication with friends and was constantly lying in bed. Gradually she stopped eating, drinking and even opening her eyes. She was in this state for about ten months.
Meanwhile, despite treatment at various places, she was finally admitted to the Psychiatry Department of Sassoon Sarvopachar Hospital in Pune as there was no improvement. Doctors have said that Nilima’s condition is rapidly improving after proper treatment was started after being admitted fifteen days ago. Currently, Nilima is walking on her own feet with the help of her mother and is also eating regularly. Head of Psychiatry Department Dr. Shashikant Thorat informed that she will recover completely in the next eight days.
According to doctors, it is rare for a 14-year-old girl to have this kind of illness. There was some tension in Nilima’s family. Due to father’s addiction, there were frequent arguments in the house. This stress had a big impact on the girl’s mental health.
Nilima’s home financial condition is in dire straits and she was even taken to Mumbai for treatment but to no avail. On the contrary, all the money borrowed from near and outside was spent, but there was no improvement in the treatment.
