A huge auction has been launched after a long-running car dealership in the north of England went into administration. In early December 2025, T. Hayselden Group informed staff working at its Volkswagen and Skoda showrooms in Doncaster that it had been put under the control of insolvency specialists and the North Bridge Road site was closed.

The Doncaster business now under the control of administrators at FRP Advisory. A Volkswagen Group UK spokesperson told Doncaster Free Press at the time: "Two T Hayselden Ltd Volkswagen Group UK sites in Doncaster are regrettably heading into administration.

"We have been working closely with T Hayselden for a number of months but it has not been possible to prevent this."

The German car giant said it was working to secure a new investor and "suitable premises in order to support the Volkswagen and Škoda customers who may be impacted by this".

It came after T Hayselden Ltd's Volkswagen dealership in Barnsley was put for sale earlier in 2025. That branch is being wound up voluntarily.

An auction is being conducted by Walker Singleton of the assets across the two areas that make up the Doncaster branch's Marshgate site, as reported by Car Dealer Magazine.

Hundreds of items including mobile diagnostic stations and car lifts going under the hammer. Even the likes of an artificial Christmas tree and showroom sofas have been listed.

An open viewing is being held on Tuesday, April 21 from 8am - 2pm. Bids close at noon on Thursday, April 23.

T Hayselden Ltd has a long history in South Yorkshire and was originally founded by Tom Hayselden in the Barnsley village of Brampton Bierlow back in 1959.
