CBSE is preparing to make scanned copies of answer sheets available to students within approximately 48 hours of their application. This will enable students to quickly determine whether there are any errors in their evaluated answer sheets.

This year, CBSE has introduced several significant changes to the On-Screen Marking (OSM) and the rechecking/re-evaluation processes. The most major change is that students will now, for the first time, have the opportunity to view a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. Only after viewing this copy will they be able to decide whether or not to apply for verification or re-evaluation.

What is the Application Window?

According to CBSE, from May 19 to May 22, 2026, students will be able to apply only for a scanned copy or photocopy of their answer sheets. The process for the verification of marks and re-evaluation will take place subsequently, from May 26 to May 29, 2026. This means that the entire rechecking process does not commence on May 19; rather, the portal will be opened solely for the purpose of viewing answer sheets. According to CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh, the portal will go live on May 19 during the first half of the day. Meanwhile, CBSE sources indicate that the portal is expected to become operational around 9:50 AM. The portal will remain accessible until 11:59 PM on May 22.

When Will the Scanned Answer Sheets Be Received?

According to sources, CBSE is making arrangements to provide students with scanned copies of their answer sheets within approximately 48 hours of their application submission. This will allow students to quickly ascertain whether there are any discrepancies or errors in the evaluation of their answer sheets. This time, CBSE has altered the sequence of the entire process. Previously, students would receive a photocopy after the verification stage, followed by the opportunity for re-evaluation; however, they will now receive the scanned copy first. This allows students to personally review their answer sheets and determine for themselves whether they actually require further verification or re-evaluation. It is important to note that the “verification of marks” does not entail a re-examination of the answers themselves. This process will strictly verify whether the total marks have been calculated correctly, ensure that no answer has been left unchecked, and confirm that no errors occurred during the uploading of marks.

What will be checked during re-evaluation?

Conversely, during re-evaluation, only those specific questions for which a student has applied will be re-examined. This means that if a student feels they have received low marks for a particular question, they may request a re-evaluation solely for that specific question.

Reduction in Fees

CBSE has significantly reduced the fees this time around. The fee has been fixed at ₹100 for a scanned copy, ₹100 for the verification of marks, and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Previously, these fees were considerably higher. CBSE has also stated that if a student’s marks increase following the re-evaluation, the fee submitted will be refunded. However, if the marks do not increase, the fee will not be refunded.

The Entire Process Will Remain Online

The entire process will be conducted exclusively online, and no offline applications of any kind will be accepted. Students are advised to apply for re-evaluation only after carefully reviewing the scanned copy of their answer sheet, as the fee is charged on a per-question basis. Additionally, anticipating heavy traffic on the portal, students are advised not to wait until the last day to apply.

When will the results be declared following re-evaluation and verification?

CBSE has not yet announced an official date for the revised results of the re-evaluation and verification processes; however, based on the current schedule, it is anticipated that the students’ updated results may be released in June 2026. Specifically, the processes for the verification of marks and re-evaluation are scheduled to continue until May 29. Consequently, the revised marks typically take 2 to 3 weeks to be released. This suggests that students can expect to receive their updated results by mid-June or the last week of June. Nevertheless, an official announcement from CBSE regarding this remains awaited.
