New Delhi: Amidst the scorching and record-breaking heat in large parts of the country, a big and relief news is coming out. A big update regarding the monsoon has come for the people of North and Central India, who are suffering from the scorching heat, according to which the monsoon is going to arrive very soon. However, even before the monsoon becomes fully active, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe alert of heavy thunderstorms and rain with lightning in 15 states of the country within the next 22 hours. During this period, there is a possibility of winds blowing at a storm speed of 70 kilometers per hour in some areas. Pre-monsoon activities will gain momentum from the beginning of June, which may provide some relief to the scorching states.


Snowfall and floods on one side, 46 degree torture on the other


At present, two very surprising forms of weather are being seen in different parts of India. While on one hand, the sun is blazing in North-Central India including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh and the mercury has crossed 40 to 46 degrees, on the other hand, rain is becoming a disaster in the North-Eastern states. In many areas of Arunachal Pradesh, floods have created such havoc that life has become completely disrupted. Here, rain and strong winds continue in many parts of the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, while fresh snowfall has been recorded in the famous Rohtang Pass and its surrounding hilly areas of Kullu district.


According to the Meteorological Department, despite this relief, a strict warning of severe heat wave has been issued in parts of Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between May 24 and 28. Apart from this, there is a red alert of severe heat in some areas of Uttar Pradesh on 24 May, in Odisha from 24 to 26 May and in Telangana on 24 May.


How will be the mood tomorrow in Delhi-NCR and UP-Bihar?


Delhi-NCR: Amidst the ongoing scorching heat in the country’s capital and surrounding areas, there may be light clouds in the sky tomorrow i.e. on May 24. Due to strong dusty winds, there will be a storm-like atmosphere and there may also be light drizzle at some places. However, there will be no complete respite from the heat and the heat wave will continue in Delhi-NCR for the next 5 days i.e. till May 28, where the maximum temperature can go up to 45 degrees Celsius.


Uttar Pradesh: The heat in UP has broken all records. The maximum temperature in Banda has reached 46.4 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow on May 24, there is a possibility of severe heat wave during the day in many parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, while in some areas the nights are also going to be very hot and restless.


Bihar: There is news of relief for the people of Bihar as an alert of storm and rain has been issued in the state. There are chances of thunderstorms in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnia on 24 and 25 May. There may be heavy rain with thunder and lightning in the capital Patna on May 25, and this trend will continue intermittently till May 28.


Dust storm in Rajasthan and hailstorm in the mountains


Rajasthan: The heat wave in Marudhara is not going to stop yet. From May 24, the temperature may increase by two to three degrees, due to which the heatwave will become more dangerous. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Rajasthan will remain mainly dry for the coming one week, but in the meantime, dusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour can definitely provide partial relief from the torture of summer.


Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh: Light rain with thunder and lightning is expected in Dehradun of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand tomorrow, while in Nainital the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of hailstorm with strong winds. There will be dust storms in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, while there are chances of rain in high hilly areas like Pithoragarh and Chamoli. At the same time, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla of the neighboring state of Himachal for winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km and lightning.

Disaster rain in South and Northeast India


Tamil Nadu: There is an alert of heavy rain for the next 3 days in Tamil Nadu, South India. Nilgiris, Erode, Tirupathur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Kallakuruchi districts including Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Vellore in western and northern Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds on Saturday and Sunday. There will be scattered rain in Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Theni and Madurai. IMD has warned of heavy rain in Coimbatore, hilly areas of Tiruppur and Nilgiris on May 25 and 26.


Odisha: While on one hand there is a heat wave alert in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Nayagarh of Odisha, on the other hand there is a warning of storm with speed of 40-50 km per hour and lightning in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. Winds will also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.


Arunachal Pradesh: The situation in this northeastern state is very serious. Warning of extremely heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning has been issued in Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Kra Dadi, Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri and Siang belt. Due to the severe floods here, many main bridges have been washed away, houses have been heavily damaged and dozens of villages have been completely cut off.


Punjab-Haryana: People of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh do not seem to be getting any respite from the heat at present. The Meteorological Department has warned that severe heat wave conditions will prevail in these areas between May 24 and 27, hence people have been advised not to come out of their homes in the afternoon and take special precautions.
