VB-G RAM G, New Delhi: The Central Government on Saturday released the draft rules of VB-G RAM G (Vikat Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission-Rural). This new law will be applicable in all states and union territories from July 1. The government has sought suggestions from the public and organizations on these rules. With this, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act will be abolished.
The government has said that under the new law, every rural family will be guaranteed 125 days of work in a year, which was earlier 100 days. This will provide more work to the families living in villages and strengthen their economic security. The expenses of this scheme will be jointly borne by the central and state governments. In normal states, the distribution of expenditure will be 60 percent between the Center and 40 percent of the state.
In the northeastern states, hill states and union territories like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the central government will bear 90 percent of the expenditure. According to Section 6, State Governments will be able to control the work awarded under the scheme for a maximum of 60 days in a year during peak farming periods, such as sowing and harvesting.
