
New Delhi, 1 July. Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections have increased by 13.9 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,94,812 crore in July. It stood at Rs 1,71,105 crore in the same period last year. This information was given in the data released by the government on Wednesday.
According to government data, the share of CGST (Central GST) in the total gross GST has been Rs 37,376 crore, the share of SGST (State GST) has been Rs 45,116 crore and the share of IGST (Integrated GST) has been Rs 1,12,320 crore. This also includes Rs 60,038 crore received from import GST.
Net GACT collection on annual basis 11.2% increase
GST refunds in June stood at Rs 32,436 crore, compared to Rs 25,121 crore in the same period last year. There has been an increase of 29.1 percent on annual basis. Excluding refunds, the net GST collection in June stood at Rs 1,62,377 crore, which was Rs 1,45,984 crore in June 2025. There has been an increase of 11.2 percent on annual basis.
Gross GST collections in Q1FY27 (April-June) stood at Rs 6,31,699 crore, compared to Rs 5,82,542 crore in the same period last year. There has been an increase of 8.4 percent on annual basis. During this period, the government has issued refunds of Rs 91,482 crore, leaving the net GST collection at Rs 5,40,218 crore.
Maharashtra number one among top five states in GST collection
The top five states in GST collection in June were Maharashtra (Rs 9,924 crore), Gujarat (Rs 4,333 crore), Karnataka (Rs 4,118 crore), Tamil Nadu (Rs 3,639 crore) and Uttar Pradesh (Rs 3,249 crore).
GST was implemented across the country on July 1, 2017.
It is noteworthy that nine years ago, on July 1, 2017, GST was implemented across the country. This is considered to be the biggest tax reform since independence. Due to this, many taxes like Value Added Tax (VAT), Sales Tax were abolished and a single tax system could be implemented in the country, making doing business in the country easier than before.
