Glasgow Commonwealth Games preparations

Although organizers have reduced the number of competitions at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, India is going all out to ensure excellence in the multi-sport event.

The Indian athletics team will train in Poland, while the boxers have left for Ireland. The lifters have already left for Birmingham.

These games will be held from July 23 to August 2, which include 10 games for general players and 6 games for para players.

To reduce expenses, all competitions will be held within a radius of 12.8 km. Around 3,000 players from 74 countries are expected to participate in it, including the Indian contingent with 126 players.

Gymnasts will reach the sports village first on July 20, followed by boxers and swimmers.

This time the number of medals for India is likely to be less than the 61 medals won in the last Birmingham Games. India had secured fourth place in Birmingham.

All training programs are approved by the Sports Ministry’s Annual Competition and Training Calendar (ACTC) and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
