The West Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2026 has been announced on July 20 (Monday), just the next day after the 1-2 defeat in the three-match ODI series against England. Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the captaincy of West Zone, while left-handed all-rounder Shams Mulani will be the vice-captain of the team.

This team was announced after the meeting of the Zonal Selection Committee. This tournament is to be played between 23 August and 10 September. It is noteworthy that last year, Indian fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur had captained the West Zone and took the team to the semi-finals. Shardul is a part of the team this time too.

It will be very interesting to see how the West Zone team performs this time under the captaincy of Gaikwad, who commanded Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Apart from this, six players have also been kept as reserves along with the main team.
