Toyota is working on a facelift for its popular Innova Hycross MPV for the Indian market. The MPV has been on sale for a couple of years, and the upcoming update is expected to give it a fresh look while helping it retain buyer interest. We have already seen multiple test mule images of the Innova Hycross online, and reports suggest that the facelifted model could get a Hilux-inspired front-end. Based on the information available so far, here is a render image showing what the Innova Hycross facelift might look like.

The image seen here is a digital render based on the spy pictures available online. The MPV gets a completely revised front-end that looks noticeably different from the current version. The front fascia appears much more muscular and butch, giving the Hycross a stronger SUV-like stance. The headlamps are sleeker and feature a redesigned internal LED DRL signature. The front nose has also been reworked, with a thick black strip running between the headlamps, where we expect to see either the Toyota logo or Toyota lettering.

Moving lower, the Hycross gets a muscular-looking front bumper with blacked-out air curtain-like elements on either side. Below them is a rugged faux skid plate with integrated LED fog lamps. The biggest highlight, however, is the new front grille, which looks very similar to the one seen on the upcoming Hilux. The upright, almost vertical design gives the MPV a much bolder road presence.

Apart from the revised front fascia, not much else is expected to change on the exterior. The MPV is likely to retain its overall profile, although Toyota is expected to introduce a revised rear bumper and updated LED tail lamps. Inside the cabin, we expect to see a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an updated 360-degree camera, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, ventilated front seats, and possibly even ventilated rear seats. Higher variants are also expected to continue offering ADAS features.

Coming to the engine and transmission options, the Hycross facelift is expected to retain the existing powertrains. It will likely continue to be offered with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 173 PS and 204 Nm of torque and is paired with a CVT gearbox. The strong-hybrid version combines the 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of around 184 PS and is mated to an e-CVT transmission.

The Innova Hycross is one of Toyota’s most popular MPVs, especially in its strong-hybrid form. Toyota is expected to discontinue the diesel-powered Innova Crysta next year, which could further increase demand for the Hycross hybrid because of its diesel-like fuel efficiency. To cater to fleet buyers, Toyota is also reportedly working on a more affordable version of the hybrid Innova Hycross. This variant is expected to come with fewer features and a more competitive price tag.
