Now preparations are being made to convey his musical legacy to the new generation and especially Gen Z.
Actually, 27 August 2026 is Mukesh's 50th death anniversary. On this occasion, the Maharashtra government has formed 'Late Singer Mukesh Gaurav Committee' to remember and carry forward his musical legacy. Along with remembering Mukesh's musical contribution, this committee will also organize many cultural programs in Mumbai.
Mukesh was not known only as a singer of Hindi films. He also spread the colors of his voice in Marathi music. The most special thing about his singing was its simplicity and the emotions felt in his voice. This is the reason why the songs sung by him still attract people towards themselves. Now the government wants that today's young generation should also connect with Mukesh's voice and music. In these programs, Mukesh's songs can also be presented in the voices of new era artists.
This initiative to carry forward Mukesh's legacy does not just involve remembering old songs. The focus of the committee will also be on giving opportunities to new singers. Under this, singing competitions will be organized for young singers and students learning music. At the same time, those who perform well will also be given gifts. By doing this, on one hand, Mukesh's evergreen songs will be brought to the new generation, and on the other hand, it will also provide a platform to the young generation who want to make a career in the world of music.
