Patna: The danger of flood has increased in Bihar. The government has issued an alert in 8 districts on Thursday. The Disaster Management Department has issued this warning in view of the rapid rise in the water level of Ganga, Punpun and Dardha rivers. These districts include Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Saran, Begusarai, Lakhisarai and Jehanabad. Many areas have already been submerged. After Diara areas of Patna, now water has started entering urban areas also.

Alert in 8 districts, holidays canceled in Patna

In view of the situation in Patna, leaves of PHED employees have been cancelled. The Public Health Engineering Department has launched a large-scale relief campaign to protect the affected families from infectious diseases and provide basic facilities.

On the instructions of the district administration, the leaves of all supervisors and district office officials have been canceled with immediate effect until the flood situation becomes normal.

Disaster Management Department Secretary Santosh Mall has asked the DMs of flood affected districts to exercise special caution. He has given instructions to continuously monitor the water level of rivers and immediately start relief and rescue operations in case of water spillage. The water level in the rivers of South Bihar is rising rapidly.

Aerial survey of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inspected the rising water level of Ganga river in Patna before leaving for Bengaluru on Thursday. He directed the officials to ensure that the general public does not face any problem and the safety of life and property should be ensured. On Friday, he will conduct an aerial survey of the flood affected areas and will also call a high-level meeting to review the relief operations.

Deputy CM Vijay Chaudhary took stock of the flood situation through video conferencing from the Command and Control Center of the Water Resources Department. He said that the situation at the places where embankment breach is reported has been reviewed. Punpun and Dardha rivers have been inspected in South Bihar.

The embankment in Bhagalpur has broken due to the increased water level of Ganga, an assessment was also taken there. Efforts are being made to control the situation by installing mega geo bags on the steamer. All the officers and engineers of the Water Resources Department are deployed on the embankments and the entire Bihar is being monitored from the command control room.

Nitish Kumar also inspected

Former Chief Minister and JDU national president Nitish Kumar also took stock of the rising water level of Ganga from Mahatma Gandhi Bridge on Thursday. During this, JDU National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha was also present.
