A total of 168 toppers from the Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) examinations were honored at a state-level meritorious student felicitation ceremony held in Patna. The Chief Minister presented medals and prize money to the meritorious students.
The state government has honored students who performed exceptionally well in the 2026 Bihar Board annual examinations (Classes 10 and 12). A total of 168 toppers from the Matric and Intermediate exams were felicitated at the state-level ceremony held at ‘Neek Samvad’ in Patna. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary presented medals and prize money to the meritorious students. Family members of the toppers were also present at the event. In addition to honoring their achievements, the government announced financial assistance for their further studies. All 168 award-winning students will receive an additional ₹51,000 to purchase a laptop.
₹2 Lakh for First-Place Holders
Prize amounts for Bihar Board Matric and Intermediate toppers have been determined based on their respective ranks. Students securing the first position at the state level were awarded ₹2 lakh. Those securing the second position received ₹1.5 lakh, while those in the third position received ₹1 lakh. Students ranking fourth and fifth in the Intermediate examination were awarded ₹30,000 each. Meanwhile, students ranking between fourth and tenth in the Matric examination received ₹20,000 each. Apart from these awards, all honored students will receive a separate sum of ₹51,000 for a laptop.
Monthly Scholarship for Intermediate Toppers
The government has also made provisions for scholarships for meritorious Intermediate students. Under the ‘Desh Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medha Chhatravritti’ (Merit Scholarship), Intermediate toppers will receive ₹2,500 per month. Students pursuing a standard undergraduate degree will receive this scholarship for three years, while those in technical undergraduate degree programs will receive it for four years, and those in five-year integrated courses for five years. Students pursuing technical diplomas will receive the benefit until the completion of their course. Students who ranked in the top 10 in the matriculation (Class 10) examination will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹2,000 for two years during Classes 11 and 12. For students admitted to technical diploma courses, this financial assistance will continue until the course is completed.
Top-Performing Students
In the Intermediate Science stream, Aditya Prakash Aman from Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Pand (Samastipur), secured the first position. Sakshi Kumari (Sitamarhi) and Sapna Kumari (Nagda) jointly secured the second position. In the Arts stream, Nishu Kumari from Yashwant Inter Vidyalaya, Khizersarai (Gaya), emerged as the topper. Siddhi Shikha (Sitamarhi) and Chandradeep Kumar (Lakhisarai) secured the second position. MD Lucky Ansari (Purnia) is also among the toppers. In the Commerce stream, Aditi Kumari from St. Xavier’s High School, Patna, secured the first position. Mahi Kumari (Patna) stood second, and Nishika Shree stood third. Priyanshu Raj (Saran) topped the vocational course, while Anika Upadhyay secured the second position. This year, for the first time, toppers from vocational courses were also included in the Bihar Board’s felicitation ceremony. In the matriculation examination, Pushpanjali Kumari from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya (Jamui) and Sabreen Parveen (Vaishali) jointly secured the first position; both scored 492 out of 500 marks, i.e., 98.4 percent. Nahid Sultan (Begusarai) secured the second position.
CM Urges Students to Become Job Creators, Not Just Job Seekers
At the felicitation ceremony, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary spoke about the need for students to progress and work towards creating employment opportunities for others. He stated that the youth of Bihar should aim not merely to seek jobs but to become job creators. The CM also announced that, starting next year, the felicitation ceremony for board toppers will be held within one month of the declaration of exam results, so that meritorious students can receive timely encouragement for their success.
