Patna. An important campaign has been started in Bihar regarding land records. If the information to name, father's name, account-khesra, area or rent is wrongly recorded in your Jamabandi, then you may get a chance to get it corrected. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has started a special campaign for Jamabandi update and inheritance mutation.
The campaign will run till 31 October
This campaign has started from Tuesday in mission mode and will continue till October 31. The aim of the department is to remove the shortcomings present in about 90 lakh Jamabandi. About four and a half crore Jamabandi are registered in Bihar, out of which a large number of records are said to be incomplete or erroneous.
Which records will be improved?
Under the campaign, information about digital gathering will be matched with old records. If any difference is found in name, father's name, account-khesra, land area and rent, it will be corrected as per rules. Records with zero area, zero rent or missing information will also be under scrutiny.
Jamabandi update of dead person's name
Jamabandi of many lands is still registered in the names of people who have passed away. In such cases, after identifying the legitimate heirs and preparing their genealogy, the process of transfer of succession will be carried forward as per the rules.
Will monitor from DM to CO
District and zonal level officials have been given the responsibility to complete the campaign on time. The DM and Commissioner will monitor it, while the CO will have to give regular reports on the progress of the work.
What is the benefit to land owners from this new system?
Having correct records can ease land registry, filing and bank work. Proper mobilization can also help in reducing land disputes and streamlining tasks such as surveying. Therefore, it will be useful for land owners to check the information of their land records.
