Patna: A 22-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two minor sons before consuming pesticide herself following a family dispute in Kochadhaman police station area of Kishanganj district on Saturday night. All three were rushed to Sadar Hospital, Kishanganj, where they are undergoing treatment.




Doctors said the condition of both children had stabilised and they were responding to treatment. However, Farhat remained critical and was under close medical supervision.




According to police, the woman, identified as Farhat Jaan , wife of Zakir , allegedly gave poison to her sons, Faizan (10) and Faizal (7), after a dispute at home. She subsequently consumed pesticide in an apparent suicide attempt , police said.




Sadar Hospital doctor Subhojit Das said the woman and both children were being continuously monitored and their condition had improved compared with their initial state. A team of doctors was overseeing their treatment.




Family members noticed their deteriorating condition and rushed them to the hospital. The exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained, and relatives have declined to comment on the possible reasons behind the alleged poisoning.




Kochadhaman SHO Ranjay Kumar Singh said no written complaint had been received so far. However, police have initiated an investigation after receiving information from the hospital and are probing the matter.
