Gurgaon: A nine-month-old boy drowned in Bhangrola Thursday morning while his mother was washing clothes. The child’s parents, who work as daily-wage labourers , rushed him to a hospital but he could not be saved and the doctors declared him dead.
The incident occurred around 11 am under the jurisdiction of Kherki Daula police station . A police officer said the hospital alerted the police about the incident, following which a team from Kherki Daula police station reached the hospital and initiated proceedings.
“The mother found the child upside down in the bucket . She informed her husband and took the child to the hospital. We received information from the hospital and sent a team to the spot,” a police officer said.
The child’s body was sent for a postmortem examination to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death. After the examination, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
Police said no complaint had been filed by the family in connection with the incident. “No criminal case has been registered in the matter. Inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the BNSS have been undertaken,” police said. They have not indicated any suspicion of foul play in the incident so far.
